Yachtmaster Ocean Qualifying Passage
New for 2009, we are pleased to offer an extended passage which fulfills the criteria for Yachtmaster Ocean qualifying passage.
We have large classic and modern ocean going boats at our disposal, which are MCA coded for Ocean use.
The course starts with 1 - 2 days of planning, boat/system checks and victualling. Candidates will be actively involved throughout this process. The passage will include 600 nautical miles (96hours) non-stop, 150 nautical miles of which will be a minimum of 50 miles offshore.
Generally bound for Northern Spain the crossing across the Bay of Biscay satisfies the criteria for Yachtmaster Ocean qualifying passage and you will be required to navigate the vessel using sun and star sights. These observations will be required to as evidence on which the examiner may test you. Way ports may be introduced for the outward or homeward passage if circumstances permit.
On return the examiner will interview you on your celestial workings and may include a paper examination to complete. This will be a rewarding and memorable voyage on an amazing boat.
Why do it aboard anything else??
You may also join this course for mileage or even just for fun if you would like the experience of ocean sailing aboard a quality ocean going yacht.
