Sailing is an activity where the more you learn the more you are able to appreciate and enjoy it.
The South Coast of Cornwall is a magnificent cruising area for all yachtsmen whatever their experience, with beautiful bays and fishing villages of charm and character. The third largest natural harbour in the world, Falmouth has miles of sheltered waters on its doorstep.
The Helford River and its tributaries such as Frenchman's Creek immortalised by Daphne duMaurier, Port Navas Creek with its sheltered waters and wooded banks, and numerous moorings and taverns at the waters edge provide perfect learning conditions for gaining inshore experience.
For the more experienced, the attractive port of Fowey is just four hours sailing away, or you may head for the Isles of Scilly with perhaps a stopover at Penzance or Newlyn on the way.
For Coastal Skipper courses and passage making experience, North Brittany is only a day's sailing away, similarly the Channel Islands which provide a challenge in strong tidal waters.
Falmouth is also ideally situated for gaining seatime in longer trips to Ireland and Southern Brittany, and is frequently the final departure Port and first arrival Port for ocean passages.
