International Certificate of Competence

ICC or equivalent qualifications are required by insurance companies and European countries before taking vessels into their waters.

The test for this is taken over one day. The candidate is best assessed on their own boat, although we can provide ICC's on school vessels if necessary.

The assesment is based on boat handling under power and sail, navigation, seamanship and safety. These skills should at least be up to Day Skipper standard and be easily demonstrable. If candidates are weak on any part of the syllabus, additional training can be given on a bespoke basis. Holders of RYA Day Skipper and above can apply direct to the RYA for an ICC and don't require further assessment.
